This post will provide support to Clinical Haematology Dept at the Hospital. The post holder will work closely with the relevant consultant staff to provide care to haematology outpatients and inpatients and will provide clinical haematology cover for the Chemotherapy Day Unit and assess medical and surgical referrals. The post holder will provide support for Haematology Clinics.

Duties and responsibilities:
Work closely with the Consultant Haematologists to provide inpatient care for patients
Provide medical cover for haematology patients attending the Chemotherapy day unit. Assessment and admission of patients with complications of chemotherapy and performance of various day procedures including pleural aspiration, paracentesis, lumbar puncture, bone marrow biopsy.
Provide support to junior medical staff
Actively pursue continuing professional development (CPD) by attending postgraduate teaching sessions
Share responsibility with the Consultant Haematologist for the departmental programme of audit and service monitoring
Participation in teaching, departmental meetings, audit and generation of guidelines will be expected if required

Person Specification:
MBBS or equivalent
GMC registration (or eligible to secure GMC registration)
MRCP or equivalent
Minimum 4 years full time post graduate experience
Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in Haematology
Demonstrate understanding of the importance of audit and research
Good communication skills
Current full driving licence
