Duties and responsibilities:
Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of the Neurology Department
To share with colleagues responsibility for the day to day management of the Neurology Department
Emergency Duties: the consultant is expected to deal with urgent neurology calls all through the working week days when requested by his/her hospital colleagues - to offer neurological opinions, outline management and when appropriate to take patients under his/her direct care.
Provide Cover for Absent Colleagues: There will be shared responsibility for providing cover during absences.
Teaching: It is expected that the post-holder will have an interest in and an active role in teaching and training Junior staff
To actively participate in both Departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit
Administrative duties associated with the care of the patients, training, and running of the clinical department.
To undertake all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and and NHS operating policies

Person Specification:
MBBS / MBChB or equivalent
MRCP or equivalent
Minimum of 24 months of continuous experience in Neurology
Specialist GMC registration (or eligible to secure specialist GMC registration)
Good Leadership and Management skills
Efficiency in Teamwork and equally good communication skills
