Duties:
The post holder will join a multi-disciplinary team and take a leading role in providing psychiatric input to the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and families
Includes face to face assessment and treatment as well as consultation to other team members.
The post holder will liaise as necessary with hospital departments including A&E, Paediatrics, Community Paediatrics, Adult Mental Health and others.
The post holder will also liaise with other agencies dealing with children, such as education, social services and primary care.
Manage more complex clinical cases, where medication is initiated and monitored, and where severe mental disorders are evident or suspected.
Share in the provision of a comprehensive psychiatric service including responsibility for the diagnosis, risk management and treatment of mental disorder including preparing reports for and participating in Mental Health Act and other regulatory processes.
Teaching, supervision and development of Junior doctors in the Department, medical students and non-medical staff as appropriate
Contribute to audits and ongoing research activity
Person Specification:
MBBS / MBChB or equivalent
MRCPsych / FRCPsych or equivalent
Minimum 7 years full time post graduate experience
Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Consultant level experience
Full GMC registration (or eligible to secure Full GMC registration)
Good Leadership and Management skills
Efficiency in Teamwork and superior communication skills
