Duties:
The post-holder will work within the acute inpatient service providing medical care
To provide clinical support, advice and supervision to the inpatient multidisciplinary team, including participation in complex risk assessments.
To conduct regular multidisciplinary ward rounds on both the acute wards and, when required, the rehabilitation ward
To work with the Crisis Resolution Service and Home Treatment Service to manage referrals, with the aim of providing an alternative to admission and facilitating discharge from inpatient care.
To undertake duties related to the Mental Health Act (1983) including provision of Section 12 duties and assessment of patients detained under Section 136 on the wards.
Teaching, supervision and development of junior medical and non medical staff.
Contribute to audits and ongoing research activity


Person Specification:
MBBS / MBChB or equivalent
MD / DNB in Psychiatry
MRCPsych FRCPsych or equivalent
Minimum 7 years full time post graduate experience
Minimum of 2 years continuous General Adult Psychiatry experience
Consultant level experience
GMC registration (or eligible to secure GMC registration)
Efficiency in Teamwork and superior communication skills
Leadership and Management skills
