This is a new post for a Consultant Cardiologist, joining 7 existing consultant cardiologists, the aim being to further develop coronary intervention.
The applicant should have good general cardiology skills in order to participate in the general cardiology on call rota, which is a specialty cardiac take as cardiology is no longer part of the general medical take. This runs alongside the urgent care pathway which includes a new build of an Acute Assessment Hub. The on-call rota is 1 in 7. The cardiologist also covers the wards at times separate from the take.
In terms of subspecialty skills, Cardiologists will be coronary intervention trained, proficient in all areas of coronary intervention. He/she would be fully trained in PCI. Advanced intervention skills, such as rotablation or laser are not a prerequisite as training can be given.


Person Specification

MBBS or equivalent
MRCP or equivalent
Full GMC/Specialist registration with a Licence to Practise (or be eligible for full GMC registration)
Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in Cardiology
Trained in cardiac ultrasound (and accredited).
Trained in device implantation (basic PPM, ICD & CRT implants) and accredited
Consultant level experience
Leadership and Management skills
