Main Duties and responsibilities:
Provide the Trust’s histopathology, non-gynaecological cytopathology, and autopsy services in conjunction with the other consultant colleagues and the Pathology Department’s scientific and technical staff.
Pursue a special interest according to the needs of the Hospital. This role includes developing minimum datasets and ensuring that all reports adhere to the agreed standards, liaising with clinicians in service planning and development, attending multi-disciplinary meetings, presenting colleagues’ cases where appropriate, and leading pathology aspects of audit projects.
Work closely with colleagues and the Cellular Pathology Laboratory Manager in the management of the service, to ensure a reliable and expeditious service and provide leadership where necessary in the continued development of the Histopathology service.
Participate in and present cases, including those reported by other pathologists, at clinical multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings as appropriate.
Participate in teaching , development and supervision of Junior Medical and non-medical staff
Show past and present experience in audit and research activities and a keen interest
Person Specification
MBBS or equivalent,
FRCPath or equivalent.
Full GMC/Specialist registration with a Licence to Practise (or be eligible for full GMC registration)
Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in Histopathology
Consultant level experience
Leadership and Management skills
Efficiency in teamwork and superior communication skills
